India Gate as we all know it was not the original name. All India War Memorial was how it was first known as. Built with red sandstone and granite, India Gate remains one of the finest creations of Lutyens.
It seems a Statue of King George V had stood under the now-vacant canopy in front of the India Gate, and was removed to Coronation Park with other statues.
The best view of India Gate is at Night when its illuminated. It looks lovely at Night. Lutyens at his best.
