imported cookware

Hi all,

Just wondering what the range of imported or high end locally produced cookware is like and where can one fine it, ie, pots, frying pans, woks, baking trays, etc.

Thanks, Tom

Go to Khan Market.

Taken from Wikipaedia:

Khan Market is the most upscale and expensive place to shop in New Delhi. It was recently ranked as the costliest retail location in the Country and 24th globally. It is located almost at the heart of the city, close to India Gate.

This helps if you are in Delhi but you haven't indicated where you are in India.

Cheers
Zoltan

Most markets will cater to this kind of products.

Khan is a good choice but might be slightly more expensive than some of the other places.

Another option is the Defence Colony Market, about 5 Km's from Khan Market. It has a few dedicated cook-ware stores and given the high volumes of expats etc living there finding imported stuff will not be a problem.

Gosh, imported cookware would be tough to find here in Chennai!

Of course, over a billion people have been cooking in locally-produced stuff all their lives! I love Indian cookware, and I love Indian cookware shops. None-the-less I'm glad to have my heavier, sturdy stainless-steel pans that came from UK, including one copper-bottom one that is over forty years old.

(Imported stuff in Chennai, if anyone wants to know: I've seen it in Lifestyle, Alwarpet.)

Home Centre/Lifestyle, Home Town, some stuff in Shoppers Stop in any city will have both imported and locally made cookware. I have actually seen Le Creuset (genuine) recently in a store in Select Citywalk Mall - Saket and a friend in Mumbai said she'd seen it in a store in Phoenix Mills - Mumbai as well.

Le Creuset is available in "Home Town" in hyderabad. I am sure it will be available in Delhi "Home Town" too.

Gosh, I'm impressed --- its bloody expensive stuff in UK!

I think Chennai is somewhat backward on the modern shopping front.

Its even more expensive here! Doesn't Chennai have a Home Town or Home Centre which is part of the Lifesyle stores?

We have Lifestyle. I only looked a couple of times as I don't like their furniture at all, but, as I said, they do have imported cookware. I don't live nearby any longer, so random visits are unlikely!

You'd survive very nicely with only locally-made stuff anyway; there is a truly wonderful assortment and range of stainless-steel vessels and cooking pots available.
