How long does it take to get from Heathrow to Fenchurch Street station?

The point being, it depends on the time of day and day of week, and how you plan to get from the airport to the train station.

Exclamation thanks

From Heathrow to Fenchurch station takes in between 1 hr to 1.5hour any time because there are tube and train services available. You will take long if u r coming when there is a strike or network problems

So thats what I want to know approx time.

I will leave airport at arount 1.30AM and want to reach Old Delhi station by 3:00 AM

No accurate idea of cost.

Wild guess.... 350/375 rupees.

You don't need an address, its near Chandni Chowk/Red Fort and anybody will know it.

But you may find this useful, even those this is from the domestic airport, which is not far from IGI

I think that is pretty close to the mark in cost, Captain - I have paid 250 rupees from Lajpat Nagar to Old Delhi, but this would be a slightly shorter distance. I don't know but a Dillite might - is there an extra charge for night hours like OP is travelling in? There certainly would be a lot less traffic at these times though.

captains guess is what I would go for too, considering the night hours and a premium will be charged...

Old Delhi Station doesn't require a address to be told to anyone in the city, when you take the Pre paid taxi, old Delhi station would be listed as a destination in the tariff chart...

Might (old) Delhi station be listed as 'Delhi main'?

Night charges (11 pm to 5 am) are 25% extra on the fare.

At 1 am, it won't take more than 30 minutes to Old Delhi. Shahdara is a lot further, if the OP is thinking of going there becos of short transfer time, Ghaziabad is a better option ( provided the train stops there).

Hardly anyone uses the term 'Delhi Main' any more.

I suppose I should have asked people. I was walking for an hour or so where I thought that the station would be, and found trains and tracks but no significant building. I was specifically looking for a view of the Old Delhi rly. stn. the way it would have looked to Rudyard Kipling (and his "Kim"). Any suggestions for my next try?

The significant building is surrounded by crowded markets, and may be not prominent in the daytime

Next time, I suggest

- take the delhi metro and get down at the old delhi station, I believe it runs there, or

- take an auto rickshaw and tell him to go there*, start your walk from there.
* there means Old Delhi Railway Station, or, in Hindi, Purani Dilli railway station

- land up at chandni chowk and ask anybody.

The Metro stops right at Old Delhi station - the name of Metro station is Chandni Chowk! You have quite a long underground walk to come out to the station itself but it takes you to the end where there are some food places.
It would be difficult to find it if you were walking about because there is so much traffic around that area - if you know what to look for not so difficult, but i can understand someone missing it because of the hectic activities in all directions out the front of it.

The exits for Delhi Main/ Old Delhi station are clearly marked from the Chandni Chowk Metro Station. Just follow the signs; there is no way you can miss the Station building, whatsoever may be the degree of chaos around it.

Hmm, there are actually 2 separate stops shwn on the Metro's maps, the CC stop actually being in ?? (I think Chawri Bazar, but not sure).
