Hotel near Delhi airport

We stayed at the International Inn in Mahipalpur. Its only 10 minutes to both airports. A double room was 1750Rs. There are lots of hotels for all budgets on the same strip of road, as well as restaurants, ATMS, and shops around the corner in the main street of Mahipalpur. Also yummy sweets at Bikaner Sweets. Its also not far from the Qutab Minar. Rooms aren't very big, but it was very quiet given its such a busy road. Hot water, TV, friendly staff. The contact details are:

A-78 National Highway No 8
Mahipalur (near Airport)
New Delhi 110037
phone 26784665 (also 66-69)
eMAIL: international.inn@indiantimes. com

ashok country resort

i'm reserved at the ashok country resort for both the night of my arrival and night before my departure, 2 weeks later. my neighbors stayed there and were very pleased. it's $135 for a single room (doubles a bit more), which includes airport transfers and breakfast. their basic room is called a "club room" on the website.

as i understand it, there's also an ashok in delhi proper. the one near the airport is actually in the gurgaon area, i believe. i recall a map of their location at the website.

Janice, The Ashok Country resort is in Delhi, though it may be close to the Harayana/Gurgaon border; it should be about 5/6 km from the International airport.

I'm staying here overnight between flights in early Feb. Renu has been very kind and helpful over email. It is close to the airport.
I'll let you know how it goes.

ah, yes, that sounds right, cap'n. perhaps i was advised it was "near" gurgaon, to distinguish it from another facility in town. but i'm not sure about that either. second hand info. thanks for clarifying.

this looks very nice katya. do you know whether the rooms have private baths? i'm not fond of staggering around bleary-eyed in common areas, or having to be civil before i've had in-room coffee, which facilitates my metamorphosis back to a human, interactive form! --> --> but if they have in-room baths, i might consider staying there instead.

I don't know about the bathroom. I didn't think to ask. Sorry. You'll have to email her and ask.

Quite a lot options are available near the airport, suggestions can be given if budget is known.

The Ashok hotel in Delhi "proper" is the five star deluxe hotel Ashok in Chanakyapuri, the diplomatic enclave of New Delhi. It is the flag-ship hotel of the ITDC chain, owned by the Government of India.
This is a nation wide chain of hotels, all named Ashok, in honor of the emperor who converted to Buddhism.

mahipalpur

I stayed in hotel Tarra in Mahipalpur. rooms with bathroom for Rs450. Many restaurants and shops in direct vincinity. You will get at IGI airport within 10 minutes from here (5 kms). Many hotels will arrange an airporttaxi, also at 4AM.

BJ, on speculation that you may mean delhi, i had two great stays, inbound and outbound, close to both airports for my own layovers, at the ashok country resort. i see from their website that they have a day rate of US$105. immaculate rooms, great service, great food, room service, easy airport transfers.
