Hidden Delhi

I'm planning on spending the better part of six months in and around Delhi and am looking for new things to see, eat, hear, etc. I've been to most of the big tourist spots (Qutb Minar, red fort, Jama masjid, Chadni chowk, nizammudin) and have eaten my way across a wide swath of central Delhi. Still, I've never been to the sulabh International Toilet Museum or the Bahai temple. Any other suggestions.......

Save your money - I heard the toilet museum is not worth a crap.

Seriously, though there are other museums in Delhi, you might enjoy, that trace the plight of Indian civilization through the evolution/advancement of slightly more diverse artifacts.

There was also a popular book/guide 'Old Delhi: 10 Easy Walks', that details some great strolls in/around old Delhi. As well, Delhi Lonely Planet is chock full of facts/finds for the energetic explorer.

Why not discover a new - long lost mughal building/structure - there's got to be a few lurking in the labyrinth that is Delhi.

BTW where are the best Jalebi Wallahs in Delhi?

I just received the book Old Delhi : 10 Easy Walks in the mail. It wasn't easy to get my hands on as it is out of print, but finally found someone online with a used copy. Very detailed and interesting, would recommend you finding a copy.

Peak Best Jalebi wallahs are in Chandni Chowk. No comparison anywhere. Hot off the oil and syrup, smelling like heaven

Jalebi!!!!

I'm so glad the subject has returned to Jalebi. I recall a good, though pricey, batch at a swank sweet shop in new friends colony market (they were the thin crispy jalebi I adore) and the jalebi from kadimi dukan in Bhogal Market are my "home" jalebi. A definitive list of the sweet shops of Delhi would be greatly appreciated (perhaps that will be my next thread).

Also, about the Toilet Museum (terrible segue, I know): I expect I'll go, seeing as the Sulabh toilets around India are a significant and well meaning (if not always completely effective) attempt to address serious sanitation issues.
