Guest House - Kailash Area (Delhi)
Can anyone recommend a good guest house in South Delhi? We would like to be near to GK1 M Block / Kailash. Our budget is up to 3000R per night for a double. Would prefer a guest house to a crappy 2* hotel.

Likir House in Lajpat Nagar, not far by auto rickshaw from GK 1 is very nice - homely, spotlessly clean with a breakfast for 130 rupees p.p. if you want a full one, or you can have just tea and toast etc. Their rates for a double are R.1035 which will leave you money over for the expensive shopping in GK 1!! It is owned by the Ladakh Monastery and all staff are Tibetan, some English speaking. All rooms with air conditioning and attached bathrooms (western style) - the shower is over the bath, and with shower curtains. You need to book ahead as they have many groups staying with them. There may be something closer to GK1 some one else may know... PM me if you want contact details for Likir House.

On editting my post re Likir house I found the whole post became deleted! very strange...
A brief description of it - it's run by a Ladakh monastery, and has home cooked meals. It's in Lajpat Nagar 2 - you can do a google for Likir House and there are a few items about it on the web. The rooms are very nicely equipped, spotlessly clean and the bathrooms all have a shower over the bath with shower curtains. It is in walking distance of Cafe Coffee Day and local market - also Defence Colony Market which has some great restaurants. Because from time to time they have group bookings it is essential to book. It is not a soulless, huge place - has a nice living room and dining area where meals are served. |
