All,

I've been living in New Delhi since October. My wife and I have reached the point where we would like to take regular weekend trips to get away from the hustle, and bustle. What are some areas within a four or five hour drive that offer scenic beauty and relative quiet?

Thanks!

Quite often discussed topic, so I'm sure there are tons of posts. Anyway, the usual getaways are Jaipur, Agra, the two Neemrana hotels (Neemrana and Kesroli), Mussourie, Bharatpur, etc. Slightly further out are Shimla and Nainital at about 8-10 hours.

jmcrist...

Try these:-

Corbett.
Nainitaal(include Khurpataal which is a off track and peaceful unlike Nainitaal and has very nice hotel facing the lake)
Mathura/Vrindavan.
Haridwar
Sariska(you can include the so called most haunted place of India "Bhangarh Fort" ).
...
the list goes on.

Hi

Posted this in another thread, thought it might be useful to you as well.:

1- Nanital: Lots of nearby smaller and beautiful places(naukuchiyatal etc)..6 hours

2- Ramgarh: This is near Nanital, it has the most beautiful drive, the place itself is not big but very scenic. - 8-10 hours Very off the beaten path

3- Jim Corbett Park: Dont know whether its open at this time of the year. - 5-6 hours

4- Jaipur

5- Neemrana

6- Pushkar

Wouldn't advise anything on the punjab or Haryana side.

Its a long weekend every1 is planning a weekend getaway, make your bookings in advance.

If you need any help/info about any of these places ask away

My list would be:

1. Mukteshwar
2. Lansdowne
3. Orchha (would be too hot in summers though)
4. Either Naukuchiyatal or Sattal (Both of these are away from hustle-bustle)
5. Jim Corbett National Park
6. RajaJi National Park
7. Chopta (For extended weekends and if you don't mind short treks)
8. Mcleodganj (For extended weekend)
