Good Bars/Hangouts in Connaught Place
Good Bars/Hangouts in Connaught Place
I will be staying at the Metropolitan Hotel next week and I was wondering where the good bars or places to meet other people were in the New Delhi area.

No Escape closed long back. Has it been re-opened?
I would definitely recommend following:
1. Blues, Outer Circle
2. Ruby Tuesday, Outer Circle
3. Aqua, Parliament Street (Expensive)
4. Spirit, Above Bercos Garden Restaurant
5. Thugs, Hotel Broadway
6. Geoffrey's

1. QBA
2. All Sports Bar
3. Picca-Delhi
4. Castle 9
5. TGI Friday
And there loads of others, which are restaurants and serve alcohol as well.
1. Maharani
2. Zen
3. Minar
4. Veda

I'm not too sure about All sports & Piccadelhi.
I had read some shockingly bad reviews about All Sports and frankly dint find it too good anyway. Picca-delhi is just a rip-off. Bad food and overtly expensive.
No offences meant Shashank, Just a personal opinion.
Blues should be it. If you're liberal on spending, Try Aqua at The Park, Definitely the only of its kind and great ambience.

I agree about Picca-Delhi, but still I mentioned it because its quite popular. All sports bar is also not up to the mark, but still is functional due to its sports theme. Couple of frames on pool table never hurt while having your beer
. There are not many places in city where you can do that.

You did not mean any, but I am seriously offended.

Yes, I have heard great things about Aqua and Agni in Park, however have never tried them, I am afraid of the price tags
But I agree with Blues, one of the best options in City. It is the only pub which I head to without thinking twice. Great Happy hours too !!

Shashank, Just an advise, Try Mezz at NFC, Some of the best rock music and a great pool table. And the prices wudnt hurt the pocket either.
Cheers

Will sure try it, thanks for advice. But first I am not into Rock music, even though I can tolerate it, but I am not very fond of it. Secondly NFC is more than 20 km from where I live
But I will visit it whenever I get a chance for sure
Lol.. Its about 45 km from where I live, But I still go nowhere else..

I bet you are staying in Greater Noida or some remote par of Gurgaon then.
btw, I have seen Rock fans doing crazier things
Hi all, some very useful information posted, thanks. I am in town in the next few days, i have couple of questions:
Is it safe for women to go to any of the bars mentioned above?
Are there any Latin bars or any places where they may have live latin or jazz music......or is it wishful thinking, too much to ask
?

As far as I know, Agni and Aqua (Both are in The Park Hotel) are absolutely safe..There was a Latin Storm concert at 24/7 Bar last week or so. Am sure if you scan the websites of 5-star hotels and/or local english newspapers , you'll find something for your respective dates.
Just a few thoughts on places around Connaught Place...
Qbar in CP is quite an established and popular haunt, but in my opinion is not worth going to - crazily expensive, often dead, and lacking any atmosphere.
Similarly Agni @ the Park Hotel is one of Delhi's 'places to be', but I reckon it's decidedly average and very expensive. Aqua, also at the Park but behind, is much much nicer and worth the money. In all of these sorts of places, if you just ask for a "beer", they'll often try and give you an imported one, which'll cost Rs400-500. Much better to specify a domestic one (Kingfisher, Carlsberg, Tiger are the best), which costs half as much.
If you're wanting to watch sport, then the All Sports bar is good; if not, then I can see why some people wouldn't like it!
One place not mentioned so far is @Live, on the outer circle, which is pretty decent (although pricey), and has live music every evening (I think).
These are just places in Connaught Place - there are loads of nice places further South, but not sure if you'd be up for making the journey. Baci in Sunder Nagar just off Lodhi Road, is a lovely little bar, for example.
