Golden Triangle tour help.

Hi All,

I plan to visit North India for the 1st time. I am planning to tour along with my parents the Golden Triangle comprising of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Planning to take a flight to Delhi from Bangalore.

I was thinking of a 5 day tour package to cover these places. And I think an tour package (rather than going on my own) would be best suited to visit these places without any wastage of time.

Planning to takeup the Golden Triangle Tour from Delhi.

Could you guys provide information some good Tour Operator in Delhi for the Golden Triangle who provide good touring service (from your/friend's experience) and are reasonably priced (in Rs rather than in $$ ).

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

May look at Panicker's Travel. They have package tours on Seat in Coach (bus) basis.

If you are looking for a tour by personal vehicle, you may contact Travel Bureau ( travelbureau (at) vsnl.com ) or www.namsteindiatours.com

I think Delhi Tourism also provides this tour.

Have you given a thought to arrange your own tour. Golden Temple lends itself well to Do-It-Yourself tour.

Hope this isn't controversial, but I can't imagine a worse introduction to India than the golden triangle. Smelly, not very nice at all cities and the worst hassle you will get in India...my advice would be go to Agra to see the taj for a few hours..and then head to somewhere small, chilled and beautiful like Orchha, not far off from Agra.

Matthew,

I am from India (South India) hence I think I can adjust.

I was told about this Golden Triangle tour by a colleauge of mine. As I dont have any other alternative, I think I'll go with this tour package.

As requested earlier, if you guys could provide information on good Tourist agents.

I visited delhi tourism site at
http://www.delhitourism.com/travelpa...ltour-1.html#s

Looks like the package is on the higher side. I dont know these are the standard rates for this tour package.

Hence please provide other travel agents so that I could decide which one of them is the best.

Thanks & Regards.

Till Now, You have received recommendations for 3 travel agents:

1. Delhi Tourism
2. Namaste India
3. Travel Bureau

I hope other members will come forward to suggest you othet travel agents ? But then if you want suggestions for travel agents only, why not ask Google Uncle also ?

No doubt I would get information from Google, but I wouldnt know if the travel agents would provide the service that they claim in their website.
And about the quality of their service.

I though I would get authentic information in discussion forum from people who might have had first hand experience with such tours/travelling agencies.

Marimuthu,
not to discourage you, but I guess a majority of our active members are independant travellers.

BTW - doing the golden triangle on your own(even with elderly parents)is extremely easy.

If you are short of time you can do most of the bus bookings online yourself - the buses(rajasthan road transport corporation volvos)will be just as comfortable as that provided by any bus travel agency.

Most hotels can be booked over phone and local trips can be arranged through the hotel. They will take you for all the same sight seeings(in the same order) as a travel agent.

Nayan,

Independent travelling actually looks like a good idea.

But the problem is that I dont know how much time it will take to visit a place and then to another. If there is a delay in visiting a location, then that may mess up with the entire schedule. Wont it?

May be, if you guys guide me though the places order and the rough time it would take to visit the place (in hrs or days), then it would be of great help.

Thanks & Regards.

What are the cities that you are planning to visit?
Delhi, agra, jaipur?

If you ask specific questions about your destinations then I am sure our members will help you with how long on an average it takes to see the places.

There are lots of threads about trip reports and itineraries to these places and also lots more asking all sorts of questions about this particular golden triangle circuit.

Yes. I was thinking of visiting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur and the duration is around 5 to 7 days.

I'll try searching and finding out the order and the places to visit in each of the cities.

But please feel free to provide me with information on the route/order of places that i should take to visit.

It will be of great help to me and may help me in planning my tour better.

Thanks & Regards.

If it helps this is what I did

Day 1: arrive in Delhi and overnight in hotel
Day 2: morning off to Agra, visit Fort in afternoon
Day 3: sunrise at Taj, breakfast at hotel, visit Sikandra and Fatehpur Sikri en-route to Bharatpur
Day 4: Keoladeo National Park
Day 5: off to Jaipur, shopping and visit to City Palace
Day 6: Amber Fort including elephant ride up to fort,
Day 7: at this point we went to Pushkar and further on after that - see the Where In The World page on my blog if you want any more information.

I did this with my wife and kids using Namaste India Tours and it was easy, unrushed and a great way of visiting these places. No worries/hassle with autorickshaws etc. We got Namaste to organise the hotels too which was fine and caused us less stress, although next time I'd probably do this myself.

The key thing is that we never felt rushed doing this within this duration. Day 3 was quite tiring as it was about 37c and there was a fair bit of sightseeing done but day 4 was very relaxing.

Thanks "OceanTragic" for your quick reply.

Could somebody who has taken this Golden Triangle tour individually share their experience with us.

I kind of did my tour individually: I decided where I wanted to go, when, by what means and then employed a car+driver. I didn't just book seats on a tour bus with others. I could have booked trains instead but decided the car option was more flexible and suitable for us.
