Hotel Prince Polonia is in Paharganj, but is nicer than the usual budget options:

Thanks for this. Ananda seems nice, reviews on tripadvisor do not look so good though. I am looking to book it but the website is not straight forward.

You'll find it far easier just to pick up the phone and speak to someone in person. In the UK we have many companies who give you a number to dial before dialling the foreign number, they give you amazing call rates, typically less than Rs 1 per minute for phoning India! Perhaps you have something similar? ![]()

For backpacker level of pricing for phonecalls, there's always Skype; apart from free PC-to-PC calls, one can also do PC-to-phone calls for a very very cheap price; I've read a blog, paki nuttah where she uses Skype, from internet cafes, to discuss ( well harangue, IMO ) visa issues with Embassy staff - given the importance of the discussion, I can't imagine that the quality is bad.I'm not being mean about backpacker's low funding ability; heck I was there myself once-upon-a-time, so I sort-of relate. -skk |

I generally book all my hotels via email or a website and have never had a problem. (I arranged my previous room with Ananda via email.)
