Getting to Nizamuddin/ Transport around Delhi
Hi!
I was wondering wht the best way to get to the Nizamuddin station is from Paharganj, or Connought place. Is it easy to hail a taxi/auto rickshaw? Can I take a metro? And can I take a taxi from Connough place (since autorickshaws aren't allowed in) and if anyone knew the approximate price I should be bargaining for from 1. Paharganj to Connought 2. Connought to NZM? Thanks so much xx |

I don't know Delhi metro routes.
An autorickshaw will be very easy to hail. Taxis are easier got from 'taxi stands'. Pahargunj to Nizamuddin should be half an hour and around sixty or seventy rupees by auto, I think. Less than double by normal taxi. (You can take radio cabs too, which you have to telephone for. There is a thread on indiamike about those, I think they charge 15 rupees per kilometer currently) Connaught Place is next door to Pahargunj, depending where exactly one is going.

The distance between Paharganj to Connought is around 2 kms to maximum of 5 kms depending which block or the exact location in Connought place... for auto, dont give him more than 20 Rupees.. you can also walk 2. Connought to NZM? is around 8 to 10 kms ..depending which route you take.. Auto will charge around 70-90 rs... Its beter to check and have a look at google maps too ![]() |

I just went on this route last week.
Get in the metro at Ramakrishna station (Pahar Ganj) and go to metro station Indraprastha (i think i paid about 18 rupee). Once you are at Indraprastha metro station go to the exit with the traffic heading south and stand at the bus stop there, when the bus arrives ask for Nizamuddin and pay 3 rupee. The metro / bus took me about 30 minutes. After two days in Delhi I just avoided the auto rickshaws completly and used the metro and bus. Another option is walk to New Delhi train station from Pahar Ganj and get a pre-paid auto rickshaw from there. |

Paharganj to the entry of Connaught place Pedal Rickshaws charge Rs. 10 only. They are good as auto guys ask for at least Rs. 40-50 for that small distance.....
