It's rather pleasant, so I enjoyed the peace and quiet. The traffic leading up to the park can be quite bad, so I was told to take the Metro. That worked out well. I liked it so much I went back on another visit so I could see it lit up. The shops there were not my cup of tea, but at least no touts around. And the complex isn't huge, it's a nice walk.

Try to go on a day they have some sort of food festival or other social event. I didn't see a listing here but might have missed it:

It's big enough that an event doesn't take over the place, there is still room to explore and walk around in peace.

Note - I love Lodi gardens and places like it, so others' mileage may vary. If someone's strapped for time, and not into parks, skip it. I'm an ex-Delhiite so it's different for me than it would be for a tourist esp a first-timer. Escaping one's family makes any place that much more fun. Kidding a little bit about the family part!

dude...
don't even think of going to that shitty garden..
try Lodhi garden instead..
u can also go to Indraprastha park but not that garden for heaven's sake..
there's nothing horrendous about it but at then its not great a garden worth a visit..
there are lots of tranquil and serene places in and around Delhi if u want to relax..

also you may want to give humayun's tomb, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Old Fort (highly recommended), Lotus temple, Qutub Minar a shot..
if you want to taste good food head to khan market..
to taste authentic Indian street food I would not recon you going to Chandni Chowk (the much publicized haven for street food in India)..instead head to Bangla sweets in Connaught Place..
to taste foods from across India pay a visit to DILLI HAAT at INA near AIIMS..
you'll get a glimpse of what India has to offer in terms to tantilizing your taste buds

thanks Sydney,
Most places I've been already. We've been a few times before in Delhi.
But I was wondering: What difference is there between the Red Fort and the Old Fort? Is't it same?
Never been in Dilli Haat. Is that only a food place?
Regards,
Aquila

Red Fort is modern construction...it's opposite Chandni Chowk

As the name says Purana Kila (Old Fort) is really old, mythologocally it's called Pandav's fort (Of Mahabharta fame)..But the present structure was built by Sher Shah Suri.....

Old fort is near Supreme Court/Pragati Maidan/Zoo....

Dilli Haat is a crafts market + food place.... Here craftsmen from different states display and sell their handicrafts....
