Full-time driver needed: can you help?
Hi everyone
Myself and my wife are relocating to Delhi in June and we need a full-time driver.
He or she (ideally a woman but I think this unlikely) needs to be able to drop off and pick up from work nearby and be available to drive during the day where necessary. We will provide the car.
How much can we expect to pay that is both a reasonable salary and a reasonable price? What kinds of duties can we expect the driver to perform - cleaning the car, parking in a safe area, and so on? Which day(s) can we expect the driver to want to not work during the week? Perhaps you would have recommendations of suitable drivers?
I've searched the forum for posts on hiring a full-time driver but I can't see a discussion that covers our specific needs.
Thanks very much for your help
Phil

Getting a female driver is extremely unlikely.Usually a driver is paid 7k-10k but it depends.Driver usually takes care of general stuff (cleaning/parking etc).Driver usually takes off on sunday but it depends.
Have you asked the company you would be working for? They usually arrange cabs for the staff and have contracts with cab vendors.

if female driver is a must, you can try out forshe cabs - they have women drivers in mumbai & delhi. i'm sure you can negotiate with them to get a full-time driver from their staff pool to serve your needs. or at least, they can get you in touch with some interested parties.

Hi theRock - thanks very much, most useful. I think asking around our place of employment sounds like a good idea - your estimate of price seems inline with what we expect, too. Thanks again.
thanks paramiyer, we'll contact forshe cabs when we are out there; it's not a must but my wife would prefer it - perhaps, as you say, if they do not have a women driver, then they know someone who might help. Thanks again.
