Football (soccer) in Delhi
Since my three boys all play soccer and also love to watch games,
I might get them to feel comfortable with the possibility to play or watch soccer when we´re in Delhi in dezember. In case they get stressed with such a different surrounding it would be a great option to just go and kick it with them. Are there any football fields where they could play? Are there youth teams we could watch doing their training or even better when there is a game? On which days are the games usually? I´d be pleased about any information. Steve ![]()

Is something available in their school, if they are attending one? That would be your best bet. India is not too crazy about soccer, and as far as I know there are no scheduled game days here.
My two nephews are soccer crazy but they play in a small park near our home with the other kids. |

College of Vocational Studies, Near Bhagat singh College, Sheik Sarai, South Delhi. Sundays, 9am to 4pm. Players keep rotating and are an eclectic mix, including a former Dynamo Kiev player (Russian Embassy) and a Real Madrid player (er... Spanish Embassy?). Have fun with your kids.

mridula, i suppose you'll have to hang around and make a few friends first... but that's very easy, there are no greg chappels in football.

Thank you phantom!
I will try finding these places. Hello mridula, is table tennis popular in india? I have never seen anybody playing, but I know they sell rackets, so I was wondering where it´s actually been played. Steve |

Table tennis is quite popular in India.
Every public/private school has at least one table with them. There is also a popular saying amongst the software fraternity, that the skill of a TT player is directly proportional to the no. of years, he/she is working in software industry ![]() In Delhi you can visit, the DDA Sports clubs spread all over delhi. They dont require an annual membership. You can pay for your daily visit and will find quite a few guys playing there. |

Hi phantom,
does that mean that IT people have got plenty of time for practising TT, or do you train similar intelligence needed for both? What are DDA Sports clubs? |

Steve, I do not think Table tennis is very popular but all it requires is a room and a table. So many schools and colleges have it. The place where I teach, five of us faculty members stay back and play in the evening.

DDA Sports Clubs are the sports clubs constructed all over delhi by Delhi Development Authority. These clubs have nice infrastructure, like badminton courts, lawn tennis courts, squash, billiards, chess, swimming pools and TT. They have quite good facilities and cater to both members and non members. Best thing is they are not exclusive, like some of the other so-called good clubs of Delhi. |
