Flat on rent in Delhi

Hi guys,

I am an IT professional from Kolkata and will be relocating to Delhi shortly. Though my office will be at Gurgaon DLF Phase 3, still I want to stay in Delhi (my office will provide me a car ). Please suggest me some places in Delhi where I can stay renting a 1 BHK (5000 to 7000) and which will be relatively close to Gurgaon. Please let me know about the frequency of power cuts and availabilty of water in Delhi as well.

Hi Rasu,
Welcome to India Mike
. . . and to Delhi! Finding an apartment here is notoriously difficult and sadly 5-7k is tight . . . If you get a company lease things may be easier. And 1 BHK's are notoriously hard to come by!
Having said that there is a lot of variety in real estate, and if you're willing to stay slightly off the prime stuff there's lots on offer.

Some ideas for 1 BHK's near Gurgan and in Delhi
Vasant Kunj 10-12k
Chattarpur 6-8k
Dada Bari (meharauli) - 6-8k
Neb Sarai (freedom fighters colony) - 5-7k

These are approximations to give you the idea, all located on and around Meharauli Gurgaon Road . . .
what if . . . maybe . . . say . . . suppose!

trooooon is right that 1BHKs are going to be tough to come by.

Would also suggest staying closer to Gurgaon. Even with a provided car and driver the commute sucks.

Thanks for the quick and prompt replies...

I wanted to stay at Gurgaon but I read from other posts here regarding the frequent power cuts & water shortage problem...I guess Delhi will be better and the cost of living will also be less there...

May be I have quoted less price for rent...but I want to know what will be the average rent for a 1 or 2 BHK (as u said 1 BHKs are rare) in a complex with water storage...I will be shifting with my family...what about staying at malviya Nagar...

Well, the frequent power cuts are going to be an issue pretty much all over the NCR. I moved back to the US from Gurgaon about a year ago and at that time I didn't notice Gurgaon having it materially worse than other areas.

The solution, of course, is a flat in a complex with some degree of power backup, but you'll pay for the privilege, as I assume you would in Kolkata. Perhaps with the real estate downturn rent prices are dropping...

As far as I know rent prices are not dropping! I pay 18k for a 2bhk in Vasant Kunj . . . Under 12 is hard to imagine in a half decent neighborhood! Gurgaon though I've never lived there is almost certainly cheaper than Delhi! Malviya Nagar is an interesting place, great market, medium rents and relatively easy to find something, but the houses are all trains, with inadequate ventilation! DDA is what I fins the most convenient.

In Delhi that's really tight. You have huge expectations . . . perhaps Gurgaon is your best bet . . . and yeah property dealers are the way i guess, direct owner links are great, they save you a month's rent, but hard to come by!!
You might get a builder flat in Khirki village or Adhchini or Lado sarai (urban villages) but they're horrid, no ventillation in the rooms usually, and narrow access roads!
