First time to India & Winter. Clothing recommendations?
First time to India & Winter. Clothing recommendations?
Hello, I'm trying to get winter clothing I may need for India. I have never lived in the winter so i'm unsure of what clothing I should be getting, i'm planning to order my clothing from Amazon before I leave for India. But then the question also rises, am I better of getting jacket/sweaters and such in India or to bring my own with me? If so please recommend me what I should get to wear for India in the winter. I'm planning to go towards to Himalaya and such as well later on. I will be in India for possibly 6 months. Will I be able to get the gear I need in India without much of a problem? I'd like to bring as little as possible with myself.
So far I got T-Shirts, Shorts, Slippers.
lol.

Keep in mind: if it's cold in India, there will be clothes for you (the locals get cold too
Fleece clothes might save you some weight and bulk compared to what you might find in India. Also this: India is a big place, a subcontinent in fact
, lots of different weather depending on where you are.

Yes. You will get all the gear you want. Smart as you are, you have not indicated what part of US you are from ? Panhandle, FL ? or somewhere the temperature does not drop below 45F ever ?
Whatever you can buy in the US for cold weather, you can buy in upper climbs of India and Nepal for less**

For North India the winter tempratures ranges from 3-15 degrees usually. You can get a lot of warm dresses here.Make sure you buy couple of jackets(easy to wear and take off since temprature in day/night differs) plus few sweaters. For Himalayas you would need heavier cloting.

4-5 winters in Delhi and I got by fine with a fleece jacket and and unlined leather bomber (not at the same time).
For indoors in my cement-walled uninsulated flat I got some wool and silk kurtas from FabIndia.
If you don't like the local style options I bought stuff regularly from Amazon UK with delivery in about a week.
