Driving lessons in Delhi

I am looking for a reputable driving school to teach me how to drive a stick. I have a US license but only have experience with automatic cars. Recommendations welcomed

Maruti Suzuki has it's Driving Academy near ISBT, Sarai Kale Khan. It's on Ring Road. You may call them at 011-24353541.

I've heard manual gearboxes called "stick shifts" before now, but I haven't heard them called "a stick" before and can't help laughing at the thought of your driving a stick - would that be a broom-broomstick?!

Can't help you with any driving schools, other than to point out the obvious which I'm sure you already realise which is that Delhi might not be the best place to learn to drive a "proper" car!

Did you realise that you cannot drive in India on a US license? If you are an Indian resident, or have diplomatic status , you'll be able to get a license / permit, otherwise you need an International Driving Permit which can only be issued in your home country and has a maximum validity of one year.

Hi - Could depend on where you are in delhi. I am using these guys to get a local licence done:
http://maps.google.co.in/maps?hl=en&...76210578378332

'Kukreja Driving School' - there are in J Block Market in Delhi.

Do you have a car already? If not there are a few automatic models on the market. That could be a less stressful option as you could then concentrate on whats happening outside of your car!

There's a driving school not far from where I live, in Jor Bagh, close to Jor Bagh road #204 (next to the fire station). Don't know if they're good or not but Jor Bagh is not a bad area to learn how to drive a manual transmission car as it's fairly quit.

If you have resident or diplomatic status you can indeed just change your national driving permit, it was a funny affair b/c at the place where I had to go they didn't understand the document somehow...end result: I've got an Indian one now which allows me to drive anything from a moped to a bus
