Does Delhi Metro operate from NDLS to Hauz Khas. The metro website shows the route (but unsure if this is proposed) or already operating.
If not what is the journey time by road.

NO, metro is not operational for Hauz Khas.
The best bet for you (assuming that you have some luggage with you), is to exit the station towards Paharganj. Negotiate the touts who will jump on you. There is a pre-paid 3-wheeler booth there - get an auto for Hauz Khas.
