Delhi to Agra

Hello Everyone,
I recently discovered IndiaMike and love all the info available. I am visiting India after 29 years this Oct/Nov and need some help. I will be doing sightseeing in Delhi on a Monday and staying overnight. Tuesday morning, prior to leaving for Agra, would like to go see Akshardham in the morning. They open at 9 and I plan on spending a couple of hours. If I leave Delhi by noon, how long will it take me to get to Agra? (traveling by car)Will I have enough time to go see the Taj and Agra fort that day? I read the Taj closes by 7pm.

When travelling, you should over-estimate everything. So, from Delhi to Agra by car, it should take around the 3 hour mark. I think it's around 205km from Delhi to Agra. Just say you finally reach Agra Fort at 3:30, you stay there for 75 minutes all the way to 4:45, and then you get to the Taj Mahal by 5pm. You get to see the Taj during sunset, and you eventually leave during closing time. For me, it's a bit rushed, but it's do-able. I like staying at the Taj for around 3 hours, maybe a bit more, just to take it all in.

PS. Don't go on Fridays, it's usually closed.

Thanks for your input. I agree regarding having more time at the Taj. I may only do Taj that day and go to Agra fort next day prior to departing for Jaipur.
