Kya hain ke..that's all I can do right now. Contemplate.

That makes it a bit tough.

But, recently a Gujju Bhai has opened a chaat restaurant next to his grocery store near here.

I bet it'll be better than anything Delhi can offer, any day.

Just found this article:

"
Delhi: Hub for awesome food
Priyanka Thakur, 24 April 2008, Thursday

DELHI UNIVERSITY is full of students from all over the country and as we all know, a student life gives way to some of the best days of our lives. Here, I have tried to chalk out the most accessible, cheap and wonderful places to hang around. You need not have a pocketful of asharfiyaan (gold coins) to be here, but only a heart full with friends and the spirit to enjoy.

Tom uncle’s Maggi : This is almost world famous! This guy doesn’t have an air conditioned restaurant, but still you will find people flocking for his maggi from all over the campus. Tom uncle has his little mobile thela, fixed in front of Miranda House and opposite to Khalsa college. Maggi, with a slice of butter on top of it................"MORE: http://www.merinews.com/catFull.jsp?articleID=132998

Guys..enuff of khana peena..how about some paan after the delicious Chole-bhature,momos, etc?

Well I'l vote for the little paanwala shop near Bengali Market.. Wen i was in delhi every afternoon after lunch I wud walk there with a couple of colleagues and get paan for almost whole of the office.

And sometimes ..for that jara meetha ho jaaye thing we landed up at Nathu's confectionery for pies and custards...

I MISS IT ALL YAAR..nothing like food in Delhi here in Dubai..hell

Malpuas of Mallik Sweet House at CP ?

Is the nondescript looking Mallik Sweet house still there at CP? Used to make the most delicious malpuas and moong dal halwa, of which I have consumed copious quantities.

Nothing remotely like that is available in Mumbai regrettably, in fact the average Mumbai pretender to the malpua [at least what is commonly available] more resembles a small disc of coarse leather. I once bought a packet of these abominations from a local sweetmeat shop near my office. Finding them inedible, I donated them to my neighbourhood crows. Much to my surprise, after initial investigation, the normally not finicky crows decided they were not to their 'taste'. Later in the evening I saw the plump neighbourhood tabby cat sniffing the untouched "malpuas". After a few minutes, he snootily stuck his nose in the air and toodled off !

Moong Dal Halwa is another delight that is not easily available in Mumbai. I recently tried the UHT version peddled by ITC foods, needless to say it was terrible, maybe not as bad as the local Mumbai malpuas, and certainly not anywhere near the standard of Mallik sweet house at CP.

Perhaps it is better for my waistline that these Delhi delicacies are not available here in Mumbai.

Read the first post..no usual suspects here please and not Karim for sure..

Today I was in Ghaziabad in parents and my dad decided to show me Original Jain Shikanji, I have heard a lot of the name on highways in UP, but the charm or Original is original. Right on the bank of Hindon you see loads of cars parked. And in fading colors its written Jain Shikanji. Rs.18 for a delightful glass, and it was simply amazing..lovely..
