Whenever I go to Delhi, I always meet up with my women friends and we have lunch together. We all enjoy trying new places and from the Coffeehouse thread here we have gone to some of the restaurants suggested - Cafe Turtle, Angels in my Kitchen, and Costa's Coffeehouse. All are good for ladies lunching. Others we have tried are a new Greek restaurant in Safdarjung Enclave (sorry forget name, maybe Ouzo?? but is in Commercial Rd, the YWCA restaurant at YWCA,Sansad Marg nr Connaught Place, The Big Chill, & The Market Cafe, Khan Market.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for good eating places, not too pricey? We are looking for a mixed range of food, not necessarily Indian because we all eat Indian daily and like to try other cuisine for a change.

Aishah - is there any particular aspect of the restaurant your looking for that would define it as being suitable for a ladies lunch (as opposed to lunch in general)? |

Are you a member of orkut ?
we maintain a very good community out there "eating out in Delhi" which has list of quite good restaurants in del you can also check http://eoid.wordpress.com/ (a blog from same community) but here you wont find restaurants as such but for some who loves food in del, this blog is very useful..... As for the kind of restaurants you are looking for :- Flavours (moolchand flyover) Italic (moolchand flyover) Mainland China GK Park Baluchi - deer park Ten = YMCA fujiya Its greek to me (safdarjung enclave) Basil and Thyme Geoffreys (ansals) Line of No control (qutab hotel) Def col Market (Swagat, moets, moti mahal etc) Chor Bizzare (must go spl for kashimiri cuisine) IHC Restaurants (if any1 of u r members there) Jerry Wong (CP) Rajdhani (gujrati Cuisine) CP Mist Diva (GK) etc etc Ps; Burrp site is not one of my favs cuz misleading reviews lots of times

Isnt rajdhani too busy and crowded at lunchtime to be a suitable venue for a nice leisurely lunch?
Love their food BTW |

Nice leisurely lunch is what we do - I mentioned just after Brownboy's post what we are looking for and not too noisy is definitely one requirement. 'It's Greek to Me' was the name of the Greek restaurant in Safdarjung - this fitted the bill nicely and the food was fabulous. Comfortable seating is another factor - you stay longer when your chairs are comfy!! Deeps 79 - have noted a no. of your choices - where is Mist? The name sounds attractive. Also what is orkut? Don't think anyone is a member... nor IHC - what do the initials stand for, I am intrigued.
And dare I mention it, but because we all meet up at the restaurant in the middle of the day, have been shopping doing other things etc. and time has passed since our morning cuppas a nice clean bathroom is also handy!! |

Deeps79 - the ones at Moolchand Flyover (Flavours & Italic) would they fit the bill? This is not far from where I normally stay in Lajpat Nagar and one of my friends is from R.K. Puram Colony so this would be quite handy for us.
Amyth - thanks for info. |

Thanks for reply deeps79 - I now realize I have been to Mist - it was extremely good but incredibly expensive. I read about their icecream desserts in the What's on in Delhi type of supplement in Hindustan Times, trotted along there and tried one out. Both price and taste were out of this world!!! I think to have a full lunch would be a bit expensive for us, foreign ladies all with Indian husbands/partners and living permanently here on an Indian, sort of middle class type income!!! We like Italian so those 2 choices at Moolchand could be a goer for us, many thanks. And I hope not as expensive as Mist??
Jyotirmoy - I googled Basil & Thyme, it looks great. Got their phone no. in my search so I think that one will also be a good choice for us, thanks. Last edited by Aishah : Sep 20th, 2007 at 19:24. |
