Delhi on a Monday
Delhi on a Monday
Hi guys
Although I'll be spending a couple of days in Delhi at the start of my trip (next week
) I noticed that one of my stop overs a few weeks later, happens on a Monday - most attractions are shut(?) I don't mind so much as I'm sure there will be other things to see & do in the afternoon/evening. I'm taking a good camera with me this time so I'm also hoping to put that to good use. Any suggestions...or what about my choices below?
Lodi Gardens
archaeological park of Mehrauli
Nizamuddin temples/Basti & Baoli - is this pond open to the public? looks difficult to find and is maybe locked up?
Thanks

I did read also that most of the attractions are shut down Monday, but my favorite part of Delhi was simply walking around Old Delhi. Even if the fort isnt open, the mosque probably is. There is plenty of street life and markets to keep you occupied there on Monday, even if no attraction per se is open.

That's correct you can spend a complete day strolling in the hustle bustle old Delhi area. You would love the place if can manage traffic and mad rush around, its full of life, lots of food options, and ample work for camera to do. Would recommend "Chandni Chowk", "Chawri Bazar" (You can follow the yellow line on Delhi metro map below); to get real feel of Old Delhi. Rightly pointed out that you can go to the Jama Maszid (Biggest Mosque in Delhi)

Yes, both the mosque & markets are good ideas, I won't be climbing one of those miranets though as I'm told it can be a bit claustrophobic. My hotel is nearby Chandni Chowk too & there's a few places in Chawri bizaar I might visit (like one of the food places that sell buffalo - think Drews mentioned it in his trip report?
