When I was staying in Delhi, the lady of the house used to get some man to bash the quilts - I couldn't work out why. Was it to clean or redistribute the stuffing inside? He did it with a short stick and took them outside to a clean bit of pavement. Do they still do this sort of thing now?

Good to know where to buy winter wear in the colder months, but where to buy winter wear (sweatshirts, hoodies) now in May? I go to Ladakh in 2 weeks and i think the one or the other hoody/sweatshirt would be a good idea. Any suggestions where i can find these things now?

The larger stores will always have them available...places like Shoppers Stop and westside in Delhi are good options.

I found thin sweaters at Shoppers Stop.
One can forget the smaller shops (eg in shopping malls). At this time of the year none of them seemed to have winter wear. But their baffled looks after my question for winter wear were funny

if you are going to ladakh in summer(you said in 2 weeks) you will not need very heavy woolens.
just wear in layers. a vest, a shirt/t-shirt, a thin sweater and a jacket on top will work fine.
