Delhi Metro

Would love to hear from anyone who has experience on it.
The thought of stepping outside my hotel in Karol Bagh and taking Metro around town boggles the mind!

What's it really like???

So, At least, the DMRC metro looks better than the Tokyo metro.. It not only runs on time.. it has changed the way delhi travelled There's already a Delhi Metro thread here

You would want to take it with you, wherever you go.. its that good

Hi Ya,
I travelled on it from Old Delhi to CP. I had no trouble, I thought it was great. I think it will be even better once they complete it. It was clean and aircon which was nice.

I must say that It was on 3 stops or stomething like that...

Yeah, it is a very nice experience... !! First step, towards the MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit system) that Delhi is asking for such a long time.

Airport to Old Delhi rly station

Hi there,

Can somebody tell me which is the metro station closest to the domestic airport? How much time does it take (approximately) to get to the Old Delhi railway stn from there? I am trying to figure out if I can get quicker to Old Delhi by metro than by road. BTW, my flight lands in Delhi at 9.15 PM.

Thanks.

The nearest metro station would be Dwarka, which is 15 mins away by cab. However, the last train is at 2230 hrs, and given that it would take you anywhere between 30 to 90 mins to exit the airport (counting congestion delays and baggage claim), the metro would not be an attractive option.
In any case, at ~2200 hrs, Old Delhi rlwy station wouldn't take more than 1-1.5 hr to reach from the airport.
Just ensure that your train's departure time and your flight's arrival time aren't too close together.
