Delhi - Looking for a quiet place to sleep with easy access to tourist areas

Hi there,

there are obviously lots of places to stay in the Paharganj area (I have read the threads), but I would like to find somewhere that is a little quieter to stay in the price region of up R1000, but preferably within a roughly 20 minute walk of the central touristy bits.

Some other areas of Delhi have been mentioned in these threads but I'm not sure how far away they are from the convenience of places like the train station, etc. And it's always a bit difficult to gauge on inaccurate maps!

I have seen a couple of threads that ask similar things but they tend to be looking at the higher cost end of things.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Wongdhen House, with its own restaurant, at the New Tibetan Colony, Majnu ka Tilla is a quiet option. The colony has a comfortable vibe with alley stalls, shops, cyber cafes metres from you. I was paying 450 rupees p/n for a basic double - fan, ensuite bathroom with western toilet, lockable wardrobe,TV, internal phone ( ring meals to your room or the top floor terrace). Fantastic view over the Yamuna River - ask for it if you decide to book. Vidhan Saba metro station is 5 mins away by auto rickshaw - 15 mins from there to Connaught Place. Nice metro too.
