Question Delhi Haat?

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know where Delhi Haat is? (aside from the fact that it's in Delhi). Can I just tell the autorickshaw guy to take me to Delhi Haat? Secondly, is it worth a visit?

Thanks everyone.

Dilli Haat is situated in Sri Aurobindo Marg,Opposite INA market.Yes most autorikshaw drivers do know where Dilli Haat is situated. Its a place where one can spend some time while admiring the great display of handicrafts, jewellery, garments and artefacts representing the workmanship of almost all parts of the country. The food plaza in Dilli Haat enables visitors to savour the different flavours of gastronomic delights from the various regions of India. The different stalls offer a wide choice of ethnic food which is clean, hygienically prepared and reasonably priced. Regional food festivals are also often held there

I loved Dilli Haat for a couple reasons.

First, there is a Rs 10 entry fee, meaning that inside are virtually no beggars or touts. Second, the quality of the handicrafts is very high, and because there are many stalls offering the same product, there is a high potential for competition and bargaining.

My Delhi-ite friend said it's open year round. We always went in the evening, and I think it's open till 9pm. We visited our first night in India, and again before we left (we had a midnight flight, so Dilli Haat was convenient to kill a few hours before going to the airport and pick up last minute souvenirs).

We found excellent prices and workmanship on carved sandstone, jewelry, miniature paintings, and blue pottery.

Best of all - I found it very quiest and hassle-free. It was CLEAN and really pleasant. I recommend a visit.

Hmmmm..nothing much to add there....just that Delhi Haat was actually built on recliamed land which was actually a drain( I've been seeing the drain since Iwas 3). I go there almost once a week.....we enjoy our eveing walks to Dilli haat..when we get bored of Lodhi Gardens
The shops or displays rotate round the year, i.e Its normally given directly to the craftsmen for 2 weeks ( extendable) to display and sell his/her goods/art. This ensures that middlemen do not take away all the profit. But sadly over the years even Dilli Haat has not been able tosave itself from Middlemen setting up their shops.
Great place to hang out and shop..better if its when a festival is going on.

The Haat opens at 11.00 a.m., which is fairly late. However, it closes at 10.00p.m., which is also quite late !! It does not enjoy a weekly off !!!
Whoever said money can't buy happiness didn't know where to shop !
