Delhi Guide

Hello Everyone.

I am very excited because I am about to embark on my first trip to India! I will be in Delhi for one week in October .

I thought it would be great to hire a guide around my age, 30, to show me around the sites, and to some good local restaurants. Maybe some nightlife. Possibly to a day trip to the Taj Mahal.

My questions are,

1. How much do you think this would cost per day?

2. Would I have trouble finding someone like that? How would I go about arranging that.

Thanks
-Z

For sightseeing and your possible day-trip to Agra and back, I recommend Namaste India Tours; their rates are reasonable and their drivers very nice people.

I don't know, however, that they can help you with "night life."

Heheh. While this site doesn't normally encourage vague and random hook-up attempts, I think we can all safely vouch for Jyotirmoy as the guide of your life, Z.! A most esteemed and respected member here. Hardly thirty though, methinks? But, yeh, go for it, I'm sure he'll show you a Delhi few tourists get to see, and rumored to be quite the night owl to boot.

Most car tour company drivers aren't guides, though. Just drivers. I mean they don't know all about the sights (well...depends on the driver). Tour companies can arrange guides to go with you, but this will obviously cost you more, and they'll be the same type of people you could pick up yourself if you need to, really.

Why do you need a guide ? If you find one, he'll probably rip you off anyway [and if it's Jyotida, you'll only get to see Delhi's bars ]

Oooh- what word was incorrect English Kabaary? Was it "stampled"? Somebody said that last night at the pub, it was a mixture of stamped and trampled. I like it. More!
