Unhappy Delhi: Government tourism office?

Anyone had any luck with the "official" government tourism office? I've been in there twice and spoken to different people and was basically fobbed off and told to go elsewhere. Honestly I've had more usefull information from the pushy touts on the streets

why do you need the government office for ?? when you have everything here IM.

You can start by asking questions in relevant threads and start new threads wherever necessary. More often than not people get better advice on IM than any govt official or a tour planner can give..

Do you mean the office on Janpath? They took very good care of me when I was last in there -- looked up dates and locations of obscure festivals, gave me a good map of Delhi ... and didn't try to sell me anything.

Yep office on Janpath. I'd heard good reports both on here and from other travellers and in Lonely Planet, but I had to check the address and the sign on the door as I could have sworn I stepped into one of the dodgy ones! Was rather disappointed, every question I asked they fobbed me off and were just plain uninterested

Yeah would be great to know the actual 'offical' one stop pit for travelers... Loads of people have asked me and i thought the one in Janpath is the one but i am not too sure after some funny stories ;-) ..
Whats this http://delhitourism.nic.in/publicpage/contact.aspx .. it says about an address in Defence Colony..
cheers, ari
