Actually there were seven capitols located at different localities around Delhi. The first one was that of Chauhan dynasty located in Lal kot area near Qutub minar followed by the massive citadel constructed by the Tughlaks the ruins of which can be seen at Tughlakabad.
What is old Delhi today specially the area around Chandni Chowk was called Shajahanabad.
