Delhi bookshop open on diwali weekend?
Hi all,
I'm flying into delhi on Oct 28 and am planning on picking up the latest edition of Footprint India before I move on (I particularly want to use Footprint). Normally I would buy the guidebook before leaving, but the latest edition is not available at home yet - but I emailed footprint and they told me stocks have already arrived at the indian shops. They have given me an address of a bookshop in gole market area where I can buy it. I have tried to contact the bookshop, they replied to tell me "yes you can buy the book from us sir" but they have ignored my subsequent emails asking the simple question: will they be open for business on Oct 29 or 30th? so to cut a long story short..... does anyone know whether the shops are normally open on those days? cheers. |

Hi
Diwali is actually on 1st of November , so there is no reason why any of the shops will be shut before that. Not sure Gole Market is normally open on a Sunday , so your best bet will be to go and buy it on the Saturday. chagu |

p.s., I don't suppose anyone could suggest the best way of getting to Gole Market from Paharganj? What part of Delhi is it in?
thanks... |

Hi Green Ink
Gole Market is not very far from Pahar ganj / Connaught Place. You should be able to get an auto rickshaw or a bus. about 10 mins by an auto. In addition , I would check out the shops around Connaught Place as there are quite a few book shops there . Also there are quite a few street vendors selling books at discounted prices in that area . chagu |
