Delhi Airport to Train Station Estimate
Hi There. will be landing at the aiport at delhi on a tuesday at 16.30 and want to then head straight to the train station (New Delhi NDLS) for a 20.30 train. can any help confirm if this is realistic in the given time? as i have no idea how long at this point it would take to get from the airport to the train station but assuming it took us an hour to get out of the airport that would leave us three hours.
would anyone also suggest the best route? Thanks |

As you probably know, Int'l and Domestic terminals are a few km apart. From the domestic terminal this will be easy. Even with traffic in the evening it won't take four hours (maybe two on a bad day).
However, coming from the Intl terminal, you both have to clear customs & immigration (can take an hour) plus a longer drive makes it a closer call. You'll still make it unless something goes wrong. If this the your first time in India, the guys at the train station will likely pick you for the "ticket stamping" scam. (Tell you to come with them to an office to have your ticket stamped or some other nonsense.) There is no such thing, and who knows what these guys will do to you if you actually go to their office. |

You have ambple time. Just take a Pre-Paid cab to the railway station. Otherwise if you want to travel cheaper there is a airport bus operated by DTC which would drop you at ISBT (Inter state bus terminal) from where (Kashmere Gate) you can catch a Metro to New Delhi.

Agree with Gaurav, just get a prepaid cab, you have time to burn and then some.

As long as your flight is on time or a max delay of an hour, you are still cool....After that it would start getting tighter and would be anybody's guess.
All the best. Ribhu |
