This past January I paid 400rps to be picked up by the hotel in Karol Bagh. If you're going at this time of year, you won't be needing that a/c!

karol bagh sucks. it's an overcrowded market basically. i'd recommend majnu ka tila, the tibetan colony ( a bit far from city centre but worth it)... or if u have the money to blow, the imperial on janpath.

I think the price is a bit high, 400 rupees would probably be more like it, however this fee sounds like a two way fare, that they are paying for the person to go and pick you up from the hotel.

I am not sure about that comment since it makes it sound like a total shithole. Karol Bagh is a bit way off from Connaught Place, not far, but you have to have transport since by foot it's a good hike (though possible).

Karol Bagh is more middle class Indian families on vacation and the hotels and resturants are more geared towards this.
If your just moving on and need a comfortable place to stay its okay. On the bright side there are very few touts and nobody bothers you.

I liked Karol Bagh. It was an easy going friendly neighborhood. On Saturday night the main street has lots of people selling cool stuff on the sidewalks. KB is a good family place.

Don't miss Punjab Sweets (which is a restaurant, not just a candy shop), easy to find on the main street through KB. Great food.

Did you check the search engine and the hotels section for KB hotels? Sorry I wouldn't recommend the hotel I posted about, as it was over priced. I saw many others in your price range though, so keep looking.

Here is the link to the place I stayed at, including my somewhat negative review:

Look through the Hotel listings section for Delhi...I liked the review of the the place jjacquemain posted:

I also did a search for Karol Bagh, as I remember we have had discussions/threads about it in the past...check out this link for example:

Lodging in Delhi

The Hotel Ajanta looked interesting, and there's a link to their web page too.

Hope that helps!

I love Karol Bagh
it throws rocks at Paharganj
there are a zillion midrange hotels, and most of them are just fine. there are several within a few hundred meters of Good palace that are as good or better.
GP is ok, but avoid their laundry- scandalous prices!

I stayed at Hotel Good Palace last year. It's clean and has a good restaurant. The room I was in had a window only onto an airshaft, tho.
