Delhi airport at night - fast help, please!

My friend, who will lecture in Delhi university, will arrive at Delhi airport very late at night or rather early in the morning - about 2 or 3 am. He doesn't want to disturb at such an early hour the people in the embassy where he will live and would like to stay at the airport for a few hours.
So the question is: are there any cafes at the airport where he could have a nice cup of tea and read a book or a newspaper until the sun rises and the embassy people wake up.

There is a Cafe Coffee Day in the arrival area, and it has a few chairs, but I cannot say whether it's open 24/7 or if it would be closed at this time of night. There are a lot of international flights arriving at those wee hours, I think, but that's no guarantee that it would be open. The arrival area is not that conducive to passing the hours, in great comfort, at least. But it could be done.

well I haven't been to Delhi airport, but I have spent many hours in various airports, including Mumbai, and apart from the fact that it's far from pleasant, it's feasible, and you might even find a tea stall open (not sure about any cafe being open at that hour, though). If he can talk his way into the Departures zone, it would be much better, because there are always people waiting there for their flights so there will be a tea/coffee stall (at least there is one open round the clock in Mumbai airport..but it's just a stall).

Talking ones way in to the departure terminal is not possible, the security will demand to see your ticket.

not very comforting info ...I, too, didn't notice anything refreshing in the arrival hall ....just the opposite...but I thought I missed the cafes&stalls as I left the airport immediately

The Coffee Day was open when we were there at 3:00am this past January. It is really just a stall. You could get a coffee and snack and then sit in a chair in the arrival hall. Not the most pleasant place to relax after a flight compared to other many other airports in the world, but not that bad if you have a coffee and a good book.

You'd think there would be at least a complimentary Kawa Chai stand with all the Kashmiri Taxi/accommodation touts floating about the exit area.
