Computer Servicing Center Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good person to do an overhaul of my computer? It is running really slow & needs some tweaking, but I have no idea who to have look at it. I don't want to pay a lot, just need some consulting.

If you can take it to Nehru place, then there is a popular Computer Service shop near Sona Sweets.

Most likely - it's a fairly friendly, casual atmosphere there. Although I think I got sent to one shop & ended up at another equally competent business by mistake.

Maybe you can go into your directory select 'accessories' select 'system tools' & then 'system information'. Then click on the edit bar & use the 'select all' to capture this information & post it here. We, collectively, might be able to at least determine if you need a memory or hardware upgrade or if it's possibly more a software/virus related issue.

Peak: Thanks! I will try to find the place, then. In the meantime, here is the system info, in case you find something interesting. I'm pretty sure it needs more RAM. Not sure otherwise.

i deleted a few things that didn't look useful to make it easier to read.

I wonder why Citymonk has not replied. Going by his posts, it seemed that he is the best person to answer the question. Otherwise Nehru place is always there with hundreds of shops. Just get it done from somebody who agrees to do servicing in your presence if it is possible.

Here's my stats for comparison - it's working lightening fast and apart from a slightly faster processor & a bunch more free physical memory - seems to be not too much different than yours:

Hmm... Can't quite seem to get quotes to work.

@James: Well, I'd kind of like to know if there is actually something that needs fixed before having someone come here.

Yes, but finding a trustworthy one is the problem. I don't just want to hand my computer to any kid with an itch to explore its innards.

@PeakXV: Hmm... so maybe a good reformat and some more RAM might do the trick? (RAM = more physical memory, right?) I can't do much about the processor.

Since Jitu bhai has recommended me ,let us see what can be done.

1. If any trouble with dell, I can talk to service manager there.
Mr. Suraj Bhan is right man there.

2. Dell or any other brands covers Hardware only, no software calls covered by them, though dealer through which you have purchased can help here but again Dell sells directly to customers with no dealers involved.

3. Has your PC gone slow after some time of work on internet and is also misbehaving or you are comparing its speed with some other machine.

4. If suddenly you are feeling it slow then some trojan horse, virus, malware, spyware e.t.c has infected it. Remedy are A) Formating of Hardrive and reloading of windows, i will strongly recommend to get it done through some experinced technician as dell machines can have Driver issues while reloading the windows operating system, a recovery disk from dell should be ready in hand.

5.B) if you cannot do part A) due to some reasons then simply down load AVG 8.5 from their site and run it , it will heal and quarintine the virus and your computer will become fast as before. though AVG will protect your system from further attacks of viruses e.t.c it will make booting time (initial start) a bit longer than normal.

I personally now feel PCs are obsolete and Dumb things now.Next machine i will buy is Macintosh, these have no virus or booting issues, like a TV they can be switched on or off.

Sent you feedback.

Yes. You can get by with 1 Gig(1,024 MB) but 2 Gigs(2,048 MB) would make life a bit easier(faster). Maybe that's all it needs. Have (whomever) install the extra memory first & make an assessment at that point whether any further tweaking or possible reformatting is needed. THe shop we used was on the third floor of Nehru Place. Can't remember the name though & the receipts are long since shredded. Best of Luck!
