Closeby trips from Delhi

Now that I know you can take a bus to Jaipur, I am wondering what other places are easily accessible from Delhi and relatively inexpensive (other than Agra). Anyone have day/weekend trips to recommend?

Go to Neemrana Fort for a night. It is a very nice place and very near to Delhi. Distance is 125 km from Delhi on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. But you need to go by car.

Bharatpur

You can go to Bharatpur, near Agra. It has a Bird Sanctuary nearby and there is some nice historical monuments. Its about 150 km from Delhi. You can go there by train or car.

Please provide a link to info on Bharatpur, gillheri. Thanks!

Mandawa

Another Option is Mandawa. This region is famous for its paintings. It is actually a village, 250 km south-west of Delhi. About 6 hrs drive.

Shekhawati your'e dead right, and if you want the contacts of a good pal there, mention it.

Vrindavan's only an hour from Nizamuddin on the Shatabdi. The throbbing culture of Bhakti, is fascinating and there are many dmensions and artistic expresssions, so it can be a fascinating day or two trip from Dilli, the atmosphere at times in the old lanes, us like stepping through a time portal.

Check also http://traveller.outlookindia.com/bookdetail.aspx?id=5 . My usual disclaimer: Never used the series, hear it's good. Had the opportunity to go over some titles recently, looked OK indeed. Hoping to have the opportunity to try them on the ground soon

A great big bloody tank. And a number of statues, and temples, and people washing a lot. I liked it.

From Kalka. To Shimla. Unless you go to Shimla first and then back down, of course!

bugger. Another senior moment, they're becoming scarily frequent.
I'll go and have my cocoa.
