Chiragh Dilli Village?
Chiragh Dilli Village?
I am planning an 3 month internship in Delhi and I'm looking for housing. I have no idea about the different areas in Delhi and was wondering if anybody knows the area of Chiragh Dilli Village. It is in South Delhi. Can anybody give me an idea about the different areas and where would you recommend me to stay (where not) ? How much is housing in Delhi in a nice area?
Any kind of advice would be very helpful!
Thank you

hi!
Chirag Dilli is a urbanised village located in South of Delhi and is about 10 miles from the I.G International Airport in New Delhi.
Its a historic village and derives its name from the name of a Sufi Saint Sheikh Nasiruddin and tale associated with it.
"As the king at that time ordered not to give any oil to lite lamps.
Hazrat Nizamuddin (Saint) asked his disciple to
use water in a lamp and light it. When
he did this the water started to burn like oil. It
is from here that this disciple got the title of
roshan chirag [burning lamp] and came to be known as
Hazrat Chirag Dehli [the lamp of Delhi and thus this village came to be known as chirag dilli. The Shrine(Durgah) of that Saint is a famous tourist spot"
