Cheap-ish clean Hotel Delhi
my boyfriend and i fly out to delhi on 1st Jan 2008, we're planning on buying a coupe of motorbikes and heading south as quickly as possible. we just want somewhere central, clean and relatively cheap. any ideas would be great - everywhere i've found on the internet has had totally conflicting reviews.
Many thanks. |

etc. What is clean to someone used to the average standard of Indian cleanliness and all kinds of hotel situations, may be totally unacceptable to you or someone else. And: How do I know whether the Hotel that I feel satisfies my standards is not going to be a messy place for you? So you should, in my opinion, downgrade your expectations for the first night, and then look at other options for the second night if you feel dissatified. |

Anyway Holly, you will find alot of cheap, clean hotels in Karol Bagh even thought people may disagree on this forum. I stayed there in a clean, cheap hotel for like US$25 a night, and it was fine by my standards, and I do like my clean rooms, and hot showers, but I suggest roaming more on IndiaMike and what past members have posted on various hotels in Delhi.

sorry my bad, it's the first time i've posted on here i see what you mean. cheap to me = 1000 rupees per room and by clean i guess clean sheets and no (or minimal) bugs! it's just somewhere to lay our heads at the end of the day not looking for new and shiny, just clean and functional... if anyone has any names of hotels they've stayed in recently (ie last month or so), that would be great.
much obliged |

and my vote will go for Paharganj .It is on the doorstep of New Delhi railway station walking distance of Connaught place .Its a market area ,lively ,and has loads of cheap hotels catering to travelers and various restaurants cafes etc .If you don't like a hotel you have the option of moving next door .You could try the star group of hotels ,cheap ,you get what you pay for and they do answer e.mails and also can arrange airport pickups .Google star group hotels .

yes,
Paharganj is the best bet if you want something very simple and practical, especially if your badget is around 1000. At this time of year, the slightly nicer hotels closer to C Place hike their prices up so no longer fall within that category! You'll find a large selection of good budget ones on google. Another good idea is to bring a sheet with you. Just swe up a plain white sheet into a sleeping bag, then even if you don't like their sheets...you have something! you can get it cleaned by the dobi walah AND when you fill you bag up with lots of nice goodies, you throw it away! |

Hmmmm...
Hey Holly,
Listen up... dont even consider Karol Bagh or Paharganj. You want to be uncomfy, slight afraid , and feel like everyone is gawking at you, then sure go ahead otherwise dont look at that side of Delhi. Delhi has the highest going rates for hotel rooms now in the world. Your budget is slightly unrealistic. I would advise that the budget be raised to about 2000-2500. This would get you options right in the heart of Delhi itself. PM me if you are ok and i can recommend a few places. Cheers puchoo.wordpress.com Some of the best travelogues from India. |
