I don’t think you will be able to get one for rent (if you meant mobile phone instrument) but you can buy a second hand mobile phone for less then Rs. 1500 which you can sell off later. As far as the connection goes, you can certainly get prepaid connections in Delhi from service providers like Hutch, Idea and Airtel. I guess you would need to provide a copy of your passport and a passport sized photograph for verification.

I took over a vodafone cellphone which in Australia comes unlocked in Dehli I thgen bought a Hutch sim card for about 1500 IR, we used this throughout Mumbai, rajisthan and Delhi with no problems at all and we only needed to top up once, the callas are really cheap we even made OS calls. I would say buy one in the US thats unlocked then but a card in Delhi there are hundreds of mobile places

what phones work This might be a silly question, but how do I know if my phone (from Canada) will unlock when I get to India? I am on the telus network and have a Motorola i1000 and can borrow a Motorola i730.
