Careful of using Credit Card -Gurgaon Expressway
Just a small warning for our Delhi/ NCR members.
Please be very careful while using you credit card for any kind of payment in any of the offices of the Gurgaon Expressway , infact if possible please stick to cash payments for buying the tags, top ups etc. I used my credit card yesterday for a months recharge and this morning woke up to a call from ICICI Mumbai informing me that as many as 48 transactions had been tried using my CC from online shopping sites to booking tickers on Spice Jet....fortunately they did not have my CVV number and were unable to authorize any of these transactions....but if they had...48..phew! How do i know it was someone from the expressway because this particular card happens to be a backup which i never use..the last time it was used was 5 months back..and then now.. Planning to go scream at them..but i guess in this case there is really no solid evidence against anyone to do much... or is there? |

good warning - puchoo. Is this for buying toll charges for the expressway? Tags - are these the computerized things stuck on the windscreen which are read as you go through the barriers - they have these in Oz - and I think the payment is automatically done onto your CC. sounds very insecure here and lucky no one got away with it.

Either memorise or note your CVV number somewhere. With indelible ink black out the CVV number on your card.

My card was swiped in front of me as well.... they do however keep writing some stuff down on a paper, wonder if they write the credit card number as well..
Anyway, whoever it was , was kinda dumb to think it would work without the CVV number , which i always black out anyway as soon as i get a card.. |

Really suprised...although I am also quite pissed with the Gurgoan expreswway guys.. but i have been suinbg cc to recharge my tag for last 6 months..... the swiping is done in front of me thru th cc machine, they only write down a receipt to you. Infact from last month onwards , even you get a auto receipt.
Well they have started the web / mob recharge thru oxicash.. but for amex cc users web payments in on. They say that they will start for mC /Visa by next month..... seeing is believing.. anyway it is better to be carefull.. Hope you reported the matter to the higher ups at the DG Expressway or atleast inform their PR / Media person( add in their website) or atleast inform some news journos atleast. cheers |

Our credit card info is all over the place. Every single merchant that you have ever used it with has knowledge of the number. The system is designed that way. It is also designed to protect the card holder from any fraud. If there is any, the cardholder is NOT responsible for it. Eventually the merchant who accepted the fraudulent card transaction will held liable for it, and if that is not possible the, the bank takes the loss. Banks attempt to keep this a big secret to protect themselves. Many of them advise against using credit cards on the Internet, or that they have rejected transaction to protect you. Hum Bug.. They are protecting themselves.. When is the last time a bank ever did anything for you?
