Cancel air ticket..
I had booked 19 tickets on kingfisher red from delhi to leh for oct 22nd..
Since there is a swine flu threat for some of us we want to cancel the tickets. Is there any way that we can get a refund on them.? We knew that it was non refundable at booking but is there any possibility at all.? |

Undue fearfulness is not an excuse? What you should ask about is if you can some degree of credit toward other flights. I have lucked out on that. Travel insurance may not pay off on that circumstance given its your initiation..

Well you're probably best off asking Kingfisher - but with low cost carriers non refundable normally means exactly that except in the event of a cancelled flight. If you have insurance you can check that, but again unless someone has actually been diagnosed with an illness that means they can't fly I doubt they will pay out - and even then it would only be for the person who was ill. Basically it sounds like you want to cancel voluntarily - in such instances you'll normally lose the money.

Be aware that you are entitled to a refund of all taxes even if a ticket is cancelled. This, in some cases, is a major component of the cost.
At least one low cost airline did not give this to me in cash, but gave me credit instead, valid for one year and transferable.

Please do check with the airline. normally, the fare is not refundable. all taxes and surcharges are.
sometimes they knock off Rs. 750 per person per sector and refund the rest. also, there are times they give you credit that you can use for future bookings.. do check with the airline...i am sure they will explain to you. ribhu |

No doubt those who already have it will be fine by the time you go, everyone I know who has had it has recovered very quickly, even after having chest infections that have required antibiotics. If the others live separately, is it worth waiting and seeing whether any of them catches it before cancelling? As Cap't M says, you'll be able to get the taxes back at least. Good luck!
