Bureau de Change in Delhi Airport
I am sure there are several banks or agencies exchange currencies at Delhi Airport.
However, has anyone come across any unscrupulous banks and agencies at Delhi Airport who are not giving correct amount of money to innocent and unsuspecting travellers? About five years ago I travelled through Delhi Airport and exchanged money and did not have any problem. A friend of mine who recently returned from another Indian city reported that he exchanged 1000 British pounds which converts to about Rs75000. Because of the huge quantity he didn’t count the money himself and relied on the clerk to count the money. However when he went to his hotel and counted the cash he realised that the correct amount of money was not given. As we will be travelling through Delhi Airport next month, I wonder if I need to be more careful about this kind of bank clerks. Is there any such problem at Delhi Airport? I am fairly sure this is not a general problem and might be an isolated case. However; I would like to have some feed back from other members if any one has ever fell victim to this type of dishonesty. |

In this particular instance, it was your friend at fault. I would count the money precisely for the reason that you friend decided not to. In fact I would always count it however little or large the sum involved.
It could be that the guy manning the Bureau inadvertently gave him less money. I would say it was an isolated incident. I have changed money in Delhi for over 10 years now, no issues ever. |
