Stayed at Ginger New Delhi
I was in Delhi in November 2008 and stayed at the ginger hotel.
My feed back - Location - Ajmeri gate New delhi station. Cost per night - 1K Distance - 200 meters from the New delhi railway station. Room- amazing, I loved the place. Service- This place does not have room service, its something like a service. No bell boys etc. Reception Desk - This is ruled by a group of idiots. I wish the tata group understands they need better people at the reception as this is the only place where guests interact. Advantages- you can walk to the Metro as the lift to the metro station is just outside the Ginger gate. The only problem is reaching here if you get down at old delhi station. The rickshaws either dont know or pretend not to know the place and they go a bit further and then say you can take a walk as its one way.. CRAP I would recomend it to all who plan to travel via metro or plan to be near the New delhi station and Who know how to deal with the idiots at the reception. Note- I spent 2 hours at the reception as the idiots could not manage the room bookings as I had 5-6 rooms of different types booked for different durations and they could not match their availability and gave me upgrades and stuff. But it could have been better managed. Only on asking for a manager did the things speeden up. (this is a long story though) The Ginger customer care has still not come back to me after the email i sent them. Please book it though irctc as this is the official yatri niwas and so is a lot cheaper if booked through irctc. Hope this helps ! ! ! ! |

Hi Gracious, I had similar requirements and I am now in Delhi, I found a nice option in South Delhi, let me know if you're interested and maybe I can share the details!

Hi gracious, I see you don't have PM facility, where I'm staying is nice and they seem to have also an apartment for sharing at a daily rate (which is higher than my room, but still cheap if you stay just for a few days) with other people, when you will get the PM facility just send me a message and I'll give you details.

gracious - after 10 posts you should be able to PM other members. Find the Personal Message facility by either putting your browser near the User Name of the person you want to PM, and there will be a drop down menu with that on it. On Quick Links at the top of the page a drop down Menu will have Personal Messages, and you can write from there as well.

Hotel Eurostar - formerly Hotel Tarra near International Airport in Mahipalpur.
I stayed in this Hotel on Jan. 15th for RS 695 to pass time while waiting to pick someone who was coming in on the next day flight. Was not too bad - there was hot and cold water but the washroom window would not close. Hence it became cold in the room. There are other budget hotels in the area but the taxi drivers prefer to drive you to hotels where they get commissions. Staff was friendly and helpful. There was internet access in the lobby. |

Hi pals,
I am reaching delhi on 20th may by rajadhani. It stops at Nizamiddin but I want to go to New Delhi. Do I need to get another ticket to travel to that station? Please suggest wheather there are good and economical (1000-1200 per day) hotels near red fort. Since I reach early in the morning is it advisable to take up my delhi tour before I check in to the hotel? Please advice I am traveling with my family. |

If your train terminates at Nizamuddin, then it's not going onto New Delhi. Easiest to take an auto rickshaw to your hotel first before you set out on a Delhi tour, I should think- Nizamuddin is not far from New Delhi or Old Delhi. Ginger Hotel sounds a good choice (apart from desk and lack of service, but the rooms are good!) going by a recommendation above, Tara Hotel in Old Delhi is very close to Red Fort and is also recommended by members. You will find contacts for these in Hotels section in this Forum.
