November is when it starts cooling down...its comfortable if you are used to cold weather....

December is cold , temperatures can touch 1-2 C , so anything warm will be advisable and a good option to carry at that time..

are the mornings cold in the winter? gloves? scarf?
i might want to stay till nov. in Rishikesh or even go to Dharamsala and then go slowly southbound.. Hampi, Mysore etc so i'm trying to guess the weather situation to determine the absolute necessary things to take... things add up quikly and the bag can get full and heavy..at the end i ask myslef do i need all that?

what would u take-clothing-if u had to do the same journey?

I wont comment on Kerala since i have not been there in the winters..

With respect to Delhi , Rishikesh - Yes the mornings can get cold enough to have a scarf , gloves on. I never carry gloves because my hands never feel that cold , but i do wear a scarf often...

I would carry a jacket , a few sweaters , thermal underwear , wollen socks.....i have never really needed anything beyond this anywhere i have gone .....

Dharamshala will be even colder....so you can probably double up on the sweater in terms of wearing them....

There's a place here in the US that sells long underwear that is knit of silk! They pack very small and will keep you toasty warm during long chilly foggy nights!

Hi

Can somebody recommend a place close to Gurgaon to stay. I will be coming in from Manali and then need to see some friends in this area and then next day leave for Kolkatta by train.

SO what would be a place to park myself. Somewhere in Vasant Vihar?

Thanks a bunch.

Hotel Royal Holidays

Stayed here last week, and loved it. Might be a bit out of your price range, but I would contact them and see what they say. See the reviews on tripadvisor.com.

We stayed at Hotel Rak International...400 rupees...small, but decent enough and we had our own little balcony from the top floor.

Two super friendly Nepali dudes working there will take good care of you.

Also very close to the New Delhi train station and a quick, easy walk to Connaught Place. Huge plate of chowmein for Rs. 15 right out front!!!

WOOHOO

Hotel Perfect in New Delhi was quite cheap and was pretty clean and good. Obviously make sure you don't get the delux rooms as they cost more. But it's also well located cause it's not too far from the major attractions. About 50 rupees to C.P in N.Delhi. It's situated 2 kilometers from Karol Bagh. The K.B. metro station is less than a 5 minute walk from it.
