Budget Hotels In New Delhi
I have a booking already and think I will stick with that and get pick up, if I go there and check the place and its not up to standard I will leave and go somewhere else as I hear there are lots in that area and my sister has stayed at Rak International. It will be day time so no problem there. I will remember the one you mentioned.

There are hotels and hotels in that area, so my advice is to look elsewhere.

The YHAI hostel in Chanakyapuri will be a good choice. They have online bookings.
Bus route 620 will take you direct to IIT from there. The stop is near Indonesia embassy.
The nearest Metro station is Race Course road (near Tughlaq road police station) for the hostel, and Hauz Khas for IIT. Both are on the yellow line.
hi guys,
After a loot of research i stayed in pahargang this time at hotel hari pairko and i really liked it, hot shower, neat toilet and clean bed spreads.
I would even rate this better than ginger or even swathi delux in karol bagh.

Hi Folks,
I will be Delhi for a few days in early May and am looking for a room close to the airport. Could someone please let me know of any hotels with good, clean and relatively easy on the budget rooms around here?
Thanks.

I've read through this entire thread. It is too good to be true that many Delhi budget hotels are way under 1000rs per night. Understandably, the atmosphere and conditions are not the best, as many have commented. However, it's still a room to take rest for a night.
Delhi is an expensive city for renting and buying real estate. BUT somehow this doesn't affect the prices in Delhi's budget hotel industry? Try going to Los Angeles or New York City and finding one motel that only charges 1000rs! Seems like the Delhi budget hotels could easily quadruple their nightly rate.
The other seemingly odd thing I read in this thread was Post #141 by mikhailj2001:
1. Keep out local criminals from using the rooms for illegal activities (drug dealing and prostitution).
2. Keep out the local residents from permanently living at budget hotels. (The monthly budget hotel rate can be half the rental price of a small flat).

Why can’t Delhi residents rent a room in a (budget) hotel? Certainly, residents need a "getaway" during pest fumigation or just to escape for some alone time. The two reasons I can think for this rule:1. Keep out local criminals from using the rooms for illegal activities (drug dealing and prostitution).
2. Keep out the local residents from permanently living at budget hotels. (The monthly budget hotel rate can be half the rental price of a small flat).

This is true even in Bangalore. Locals are not given room. One of the hotel owners told that if the police comes to know they will make a big fuss out of this and might even arrest the owner. Reason being if you are already a resident of that city - why are you staying at the hotel ? Police will not accept any reasons and they will look at this as harassing / money making opportunity for them.Cheers!
Hey
It is very easy to find just visit on google and type cheap hotel room in Delhi. You can easily choose your comfortable budget hotel.

A Swedish "vandrarhem" (youth hostel, that accepts people of any age; literally home for walkers/hikers/travellers) does not accept people from its area. The reasons are probably similar to what OneTeacher mentioned.

Hi Friends,
I am coming to Delhi on 18 May 12 and need a decent budget hotel near New Delhi Railway Station, for RS.750-1000Rs with attached bathroom and AC (if possible within 750-1000 rs) TV not big preference as i would be out all day, and would return in night time only. From makemytrip.com i find many hotels for below 1000 rs, any suggestions on them, any recommended names
Hotel Shiv Palace

rsk11584, There are many guesthouses in Paharganj apart from the one you name that are in your price range. I have stayed at Ajay guesthouse and found it quite OK but it is further from New Delhi station.
The hotel you mention appears to have traveller reviews only in makemytrip.com. I would be more confident of that one if it had some positive reviews in IndiaMike or Tripadvisor.
Some of the Paharganj low budget hotels are sometimes unacceptably dirty judging from traveller reviews in Tripadvisor.
