Boutiques
The last time I was in New Delhi, I went to MG 1 but I hear it's been demolished. Does anyone where the boutiques from there have relocated to? Also is Ambawatta Mall worth going to and is it open on Sundays. Would love to hear about great places to shop for clothes in New Delhi.

Shopping
Tiara,
I am not sure if the MG1 shops have relocated yet but I can recommend a few other places. Khan Market has some boutique shops, Santoshti is a very nice shopping complex and Haus Khaz village also have some lovely boutiques selling very pretty and sometimes quite expensive Indian clothing. My favourite is GK1 M Block market where you will find lots of shops including Espirit. GK1 N Block market also has some good shops such as Fab India and Gyans. Connaught Place has lots of shops selling western merchandise and Karol Bagh also has several big clothes shops. Ansal Plaza is a shopping mall in South Delhi which also has a good range of clothing shops. The mall you mentioned I haven't heard of so can't help you there I'm afraid but hope this little list helps.

Fab India in GK-I N Block Market is open on Sunday but the one in Khan market is closed.
The MG1 is closed but if you have the name of the boutique you used last year, maybe you can run a search. many have relocated to Gurgaon and some even to small markets like Lodhi Colony and Jorbagh markets.

Most of the designer stores from MG1 have shifted to the Crescent Mall near the Qutab Minar. You could also try "Santushti" in Chanakyapuri for upmarket designer stuff. Hope this helps.

Crescent Mall
Is Crescent Mall open already and where exactly is it located? Is it open on Sundays? I am only familiar with Qutb Minar and Olive Garden in that area. I hear that there are many boutiques in Mehrauli but where are they?
Are there boutiques in Lado Serai worth visiting? Again where is Lado Serai? Any new Malls opening in Delhi -what about Square 1? |

Stand with Qutab Minar behind your back .. drive straight for about 150 mtrs till you reach a lil red light which only has a right turn and no left turn . Take a right and follow the road as it curves to the right .. after the curve you will see a CNG pump on ur left and adjoining that is the CRESCENT MALL !!! Its about 2 mins from Qutab Minar ... infact u can evven walk it in 2 mins ... Cheers PS -- will PM you once it opens to the public !! |

As others have written, FabIndia (now with locations all over Delhi, all over India, and soon all over the world) is a great place. I don't like to shop at all, but I always go there. Santushti is also pretty good. I also always hit the Cottage Industries building. It's not cheap but most of the stuff is high quality. They also sell nice Christmas ornaments (and have a nice Christmas display) during the season so I like to patronize them (and they have a nice clean restroom!).
I suspect that with all the new wealth in Delhi there are some nice places to shop that I have never heard of. The first time I was in Noida the "Atta Market" was a dusty crossroads with an Aggarwal Candy shop, a stall selling flowers, and an open-air barber shop. Now the place is practically like Beverly Hills. Portie |
