How to reach nayi sarak: There are two ways,
1) you can either go to old delhi railway station, in front of it there's town hall and behind that, the perpendicular road is called nayi sarak. 2) Or you can go to Red Fort, take the road in front of it, reach town-hall and then take a left turn ![]() Nayi sarak is full of clothes/saaree shops, in between them there will be a couple of book stalls scattered around, so you will need to keep your eyes open. But the hassle is worth it. All the books are sold there with at least 20-25% discount on the printed price. Dont forget to get a copy of "five point someone".. its an awesome book... Happy reading ![]() |

There is a very old second hand book shop next to the Plaza cinema in CP. They stock a wide variety of books & a very good collection of travel related books. If you are looking for something particular & they don't have this at the moment, leave your e-mail id, they will get in touch with you once they get a copy. After your purchase drop in at Nizam's for a Kathi Roll.

Books Wormfree in Delhi
I was surfing Flickr just now and found a photo with linked story that the Connaught Place Bookworm book shop is about to shut. The Flickr entry was dated May 20.
I don't reach India often but when in Delhi I always visited Bookworm, mainly for the feeling of that quaint old shop. ![]() |

good on in Khan Market
There is a good bookstore in Khan Market, but I can't remember what it is called now. The market is small, so you'll be able to find it. There are a few stationary-DVD-book shops as well- that is NOT what I'm referring to. And I think there is also a religious bookstore there, also NOT the one I'm referring to.
The book store I'm talking about is floor to ceiling books and usually quite crowded. They have lots of used popular books and paperbacks, and a much bigger section of fiction literature and nonfiction, especially travel writing, that is new. The opening of the store is facing the parking area, so you can just walk around the periphery of the market until you find it. Khan Market is well-known and any taxi driver can get you there. Sorry if someone else has responded with the same info or if you already knew about this and were looking for something better! |

I think full circle is the book shop you're referring to. Nice cafe on the top floor as well.

Madras is the only city in India for books.
Delhi - most bookstores stock pulp, coffee table, or ubiquitious 'management' books. Even then, some good ones are- Fact and Fiction in Basant Lok, Galgotia's in CP(if you can brave the Raj-era dust on the shelves there), and a bookshop in Khan Market (don't remember the name, but it used to be really good 10 years back). For comics, try Landmark in Gurgaon (one of the malls a little after Vatika Business Centre as you come in from IFFCO chowk on MG road). Not a patch on the one in Madras, but decent by Delhi standards. The bookshop in Spencer's daily in the adjacent mall is also decent. I found a decent collection of mountaineering books there, in itself a rarity. Om used to be a good outlet in Basant Lok till its it grew big. Likewise, Teksons was a nice little shop in South Ex - a long time back. Now it's big and bad. The Oxford outlet in CP (Barakhamba road, i think) is the worst of them all, but like all Oxford bookstores, would have a cha bar (don't remember seeing one there the last time, but am sure it must be there). Nai Sarak - that's the place we'd buy textbooks from. Not sure you'd get a lot of other books there. |
