Bikram Yoga in New Delhi

I am arriving in New Delhi starting july 12 and would like to start doing bikram yoga, does anyone know of a studio that offers this? Also how much would a membership cost? Any good yoga retreats in New Delhi or surrounding area?

Thanks for your helP!

As far as I know about yoga..Bikram yoga is not looked very highly in India..

You need to practice yoga and for that there are couple of very good places in Delhi...you can try couple of Ashrams..I do not remember their name, however they are near YMCA, behind the Bangla Saheb Gurudwara.

Please, if you are going all the way to India, get to learn the real thing. Not some hollywoodized version of yoga created by a self proclaimed "yogi to the stars" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bikram_Yoga.

Thank you for your advice! I never knew this about bikram...in fact I don't know much, other than that I thought I would enjoy it more because of the heat and intensity! I will take your advice about trying the "real thing"!

well you can PM me and I will send you my phone number..

once in Delhi give me a call and I will tell you the directions to the place I know about..you can directly go there and talk to them..

when I used to go there as a kid with my Gran dad, there were lot of foreigners who used to practise with us..so its pretty open and you would feel comfortable..

Bikram yoga

If you are looking to burn a lot of calories (and sweat profusely) doing yoga, you would definitely want to do either Ashtanga, Bikram, Power Yoga or Vinyasa which can burn anywhere between 350-650 calories a class. I have known some people who used to be quite overweight and did Bikram for months and started shedding off the pounds. Of course, this is more effective combined with a healthy and wholesome diet, and consuming less fried food, junk food, and too much sugar.
