Best temples to visit in Delhi?

My 3 young daughters and I will be in Delhi for 9 days...well we'll be spending our first full day of our trip in Agra....and then we'll be in Jaipur over the weekend in the middle, and we'll spend Holi in Vrindavan, I think... so really we'll have 3 of our 4 days before that weekend to spend in Delhi...then 2 of our last 3 days of the trip in Delhi....So 5 Delhi days total...but anyway, we'd like to visit notable temples in Delhi.

We have Prachin Hanuman Mandir on our list, and the Lotus temple, and the Lakshmi Narayan Temple...Chattarpur temple....and Akshardham temple.

Any other suggestions?

thanks,
Blessings,
Ginger

The Ahimsa Sthal on the road to the Qutub Minar (Aurobindo Marg) is quite interesting, especially at sunset near the statue of Mahavir.

But do keep in mind that they don't like photos being snapped there, or perhaps it was just photos of Mahavir. And just across the road is the entrance to the under-visited Mehrauli Archaeological Park, with lots of ruins, temples etc.

Hi Empress Ginger!

If you are visiting the Lotus Temple, just adjacent to it is the ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple complex. It has a rocking atmosphere and there's a permanent exhibition called "Vedic Expo" that your kids would just love! Their restaurant, Govinda's is also fabulous: they serve a freshly prepared all you can eat vegetarian buffet.

Have fun!

There is Yogini Mandir at Qutub Archaeological Complex. It's one of the two surviving Tantrik temples in Delhi.

I would highly recommend going to a Sikh Temple, or Gurudwara. The Bangla sahib in New delhi and close to CP or the Sis Ganj Gurudwara on Chandni chowk.

You can visit Akshardham Temple which is near new Noida, Delhi. It is present in the Guiness Book of World Records as the Worlds Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple.

Hi Empress Ginger!

The Vedic Expo is a walk through presentation which takes about 3/4 of an hour to complete. One is guided through various rooms, passages and auditoriums following the story of creation (according to Hindu beliefs),involving a sound and light presentation, animated scenes from the Ramayana, life of Krishna, etc.. Can't remember the cost, but it wouldn't have been much.

I've heard that the price of the all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet at Govinda's has almost doubled! I'll still be going :-P

Visit Akshardham Temple and keep a day for different shows and musical fountain. The shows are very impressive. E.g. There is boat which goes through artificial lake in an air conditioned environment, and you will see moving models showing indian civilization since ancient time! Children will enjoy it too! And don't miss the musical fountains. They have a website (http://www.akshardham.com ). So you can check the time of different show. You can buy combined ticket for all the show.

I suggest you visit Akshardham Temple. Its the world's largest temple. Its very open and peaceful. Also, you can try the ICKCON temple in New Friends Colony. Good for meditation.
