BBC journalists attacked in Delhi

Not aware of any coverage of this in the India press? Did anyone else see the story?

Moderator note: Title changed from "BBC journalists attacked Delhi", which may have been equally interesting.

Shocking story, btw. Haven't seen this on Indian TV, but could have missed it, possibly.

Police put 60 officers on the case and seven Bangladeshimen were arrested next day as they hid out in a forest.
Rounding up the usual suspects?

David, Fiona and the children were resting at their other house in Edinburgh yesterday. David said: "We're going to take a few days to recover from this."
A few days? Wow... I wouldn't leave the house for years. Or stay in it for years . Hats off to these people for their bravery.

Google News throws up just three minor-ish British hits, the first from Aug. 8th. Maybe it's still awaiting coverage and/or web archiving?

Ah, there's some more on it here, citing the Times of India but it doesn't seem to be in its online edition, maybe after the weekend: Gang held over gun ordeal of former BBC couple (The Herald, Aug. 10th). From it:

Quote:
"... It was reported the raid happened in the early hours of Monday morning. The family were said to be traumatised but unhurt.

The gang was said to have taken beer, wine and chocolates and some valuables.

Around 60 police officers were involved in the hunt and the seven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested the next day. Police suspect the gang had been involved in other raids in the region. ..."

yeah, this was in the paper (times, hindu) mid week I think, but the family was not identified (ex BBC reporter, etc). Certainly no names were given. The newspaper articles simply said a foreign family living in a farm house had been attacked and robbed, and that the suspects had been arrested.

and the the 5 year old slept through it! That's one very deep sleep....

It's amazing to see how fast the Indian police can take action as soon as someone 'important' is the victim..

They took action.

Now it's a long wait, until we found out if they took action against the right people, or the whole thing is forgotten...

I guess this was the right way to do..a mention of term 'journalist' draws unwanted attention...

after all the robbery had nothing to do with the person being a journalist...
