Please -- I've Googled.. I've "India Miked".. I've even consulted the Thorntree with no success.
I have looked at indian airports website which is pretty much useless. Does any know of a straightforward place I could leave a 40 litre bag in a secure area in New Delhi for 30 days or less? Please - spare me the flames about 'over packing'. ![]() |

If you can show them a rail ticket, the stations are secure and not expensive.

luggage store in Delhi
I always store my luggage at a place upstairs a popular restaurant (half open) in Paharganj (is it Diamond Cafe?) approximately opposite Vivek Hotel. They charge 5 rps per day for big pieces.
Another option is to ask at the hotel where you stay if they would store your luggage. Some hotels do, some dont. |

Most places would be safe as long as you don't have very expensive stuff inside the bag and hope it is not a soft bag as it could sometimes get ripped open by rats if not by humans!!! Also be careful you don't leave any food stuff inside the soft bags as they could invite ants and mice too.
The International airport should have a left luggage counter and charge roughly about Rs10 to 20 maximum depending on the size of the bag. At most railway stations the cloak room will accept bags of any size as long as they are locked with an external lock and charge Rs10 per bag for 24 hours. You usually need to show them a railway ticket but sometimes it is possible to do it without one too. Do tell them that you will be leaving it for the number of days you want to or else they may have a doubt about it belonging to somebody who has forgotten to claim his baggage especially since you will leave it for about a month or so. Hope this helps. Cheers, Aadil.

The Update:
The New Delhi railway station will store up to 3 days @ resonable prices. Its no good for me cause I need 14 to 21 days. The YHAI in ChanakyaPuri is a great place to stay (by the way) but again, will not keep baggages over 3 days. I shall try my luck in some of the hotels around Pahar Ganj area.. Is it worth my while getting on the Ex Servicemans Bus and taking a trip to IGI airport and trying to find a proper storage there along the international terminal?? ..good advice about the locks and the importance of having a quality bag so that mice, rats (!) and other unattractive vermin not set up camp in your undies! |

I stayed in Shelton Hotel, Paharganj, and they have a storage room upstairs. They held my bag, no problem. Hare Rama / Ajay Guest House also has a storage place just behind the hotel...ask there... it's very easy!

Can someone confirm that there is luggage/baggage storage at the Old Delhi train station? Thanks in advance.
